After missing round 4 in Budapest due to illness I was all fired up for the 5th round of this exciting tour. Bratislava is also hosting the City Downhill this season so expectations in the area were set pretty high for me!
The course was the first in the series to feature an escalator that we had to race up! It was after a sharp right hand turn meaning keeping 'flow' was rather difficult and max power from the legs was needed.
I qualified fairly well and only 1 second separated the top 19 riders! Unfortunately with such a tight race I ended up in 15th position, my worst this year and very disappointing indeed!
I will be spending the next week training with World champion Tomas Slavik in Prague and analyzing my race footage from Sunday to ensure the same mistakes are not made again.
